About

This site is a dedicated site for the now defunct 4E Framework. The framework was developed to support the cultural shift from digital tools as a technological activity to digital tools as a welcome benefit to the learning experience. You can read more about the framework in the introduction area but this site is no longer updated and acts as an archive for the framework and those who still seek to use it.

My own experience of using educational technology has evolved and as such I have shifted my perspective from a techno-positive viewpoint (which this framework represents) to one which additionally recognises that any technological implementation also has potential negative impact considerations.

However, that’s not to say that the 4E framework is still not useful in considering a rationale for technology use based on the four fundamental conversation principles of digital tools being useful to enable learning, enhance learning, enrich learning and empower users.
